I am Dr. Mohammed Amer Younus Al Shaheen, a Doha-based GIS manager, urban planner, and architect. For more than 15 years I have connected geospatial technology, engineering data, and planning practice so that public infrastructure is easier to plan, deliver, and maintain.

About

I work where geography, engineering, and governance meet: making sure the data behind public infrastructure is accurate, owned, and useful.

My career began in architecture and master planning in Yemen, continued through research and teaching in sustainable design and GIS in Malaysia, and developed through transport and urban planning projects in Qatar and Dubai. Today I work in the public infrastructure sector in Qatar, focusing on enterprise GIS, digital engineering, and asset information.

I hold a PhD in Sustainability, a Master of Urban and Regional Planning (Integrated Coastal Zone Management), and a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering. That mix lets me move comfortably between a planning policy, a geodatabase schema, and a design review, and translate between the people who own each of them.

Project management of enterprise geospatial data re-engineering, standards, and governance.
Contributing to GIS-BIM integration, digital handover, and geospatial digital twin initiatives.
Developing QA/QC and validation approaches, submission templates, and consultant compliance requirements.

Reviewed and validated GIS data submissions for roads and drainage handover projects.
Developed a structured GIS handover process and supported automated QA/QC tools.
Contributed to GIS standards and submittal requirements.

Urban Planner / GIS Specialist

OCG Global Qatar, Doha

Led the GIS and data management components of the Al Khor Municipality Comprehensive Master Plan Review for the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
Designed the land-use survey methodology, the project geodatabase, and a GIS web application for planners.

Urban Planner / GIS and BIM Data Specialist

Crown Consult, Doha and Dubai

Supported the update of the Qatar Transportation Master Plan and the Qatar Trip Generation and Parking Rates Manual for the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Prepared pedestrian and cyclist master layouts for 13 Dubai Metro station precincts (RTA R1058), which received RTA approval.

Research on translating sustainability knowledge into architectural design studios; taught BIM and IES-VE energy simulation.
